The estate has been a popular meeting place for drivers on Friday nights.

A tweet from Kent Police said: "Specials and regular colleagues have yet again attended a road traffic crash at Medway City Estate.

Fortunately the drivers and all passengers managed to escape these 2 cars before they went up in flames."

Officers were called to Sir Thomas Longley Road on the estate at about 11.15pm following reports of the collision involving four vehicles - two of which subsequently caught fire.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed firefighters were called to the scene of the crash.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels and foam to tackle well-established fires in two of the four cars. The four casualties involved in the incident suffered minor injuries and were left in the case of ambulance crews.
