He was originally arrested on August 2 after a police officer spotted a group of drug users loitering in an alleyway by Bryant Street, Chatham.

The constable parked up and returned only to find the group had moved on but as he entered the alleyway he met Laby exiting into Chalk Pitt Hill.

The county lines dealer, from Harlescott Road in Peckham, was then detained for a drug search where he was found to have £220 and three mobile phones.

He was then taken to the police station where a further search located five deals of heroin and 16 wraps of crack cocaine hidden in his underwear.

The seized phones were examined and found to have text messages concerning the supply of drugs.

Laby was identified as working for the “Alex” cocaine supply line and charged with drug dealing offences.

Yesterday (January 16) he was sentenced to one year and four months’ imprisonment.

Detective Constable, John Carless, said: “This man travelled to Chatham seeking to avoid arrest by supplying drugs whilst hiding in an alleyway.

“His plan unravelled when an officer spotted the suspected drug deal and then used his knowledge of local alleyways to track down the supplier.

“Laby is now starting a prison sentence and any others who come to Medway to deal class A drugs should be aware that our patrols can spot their criminal activities swiftly and they too will be brought to justice.”
