Top cops in Medway have launched a campaign to target the supply of drugs and use in the Towns.

As part of National Drugs Week, officers will be issuing warrants, giving educational presentations and carrying out roadchecks, stopping motorists in key locations during the evening.

Previous night-time operations have disrupted drug suppliers and centred around the use of the Ion Track drug detection equipment, which uses a simple swab to pick up on traces of drugs on people’s hands.

People are being asked to help police by reporting anyone who they think may be involved in supplying drugs.

Medway’s Detective Chief Inspector Jon Sutton, said: “We understand addiction fuels crime and one of the most effective ways to make the area safer is to target those who supply drugs.

“When we arrest dealers it gives people who are dependant on drugs the opportunity to seek help.

“By raising awareness and working with local people, we can make a difference and build stronger, safer communities.”
