A drunk pensioner exposed himself in front of women and children near a shopping centre.
David McCarthy pulled his trousers down to urinate near the Dockside Outlet Centre in Chatham, after boozing all day with a friend.
The incident happened in Dock Head Road on August 18, in front of children as young as eight. He was reported to police and the 66-year-old was arrested.
He was later charged with outraging public decency and admitted the offence when he appeared before magistrates in Medway on September 20.
Debbie Jones, prosecuting, said: “The defendant was in Dock Head Road and had been drinking all day.
“He pulled down his trousers and faced the dock and the water and urinated and there were children around. It was near The Range.”
Ms Jones said someone shouted at him about what he was doing and McCarthy swore at them.
She added: “He told officers he had been caught short and had too much to drink.”
Defending himself, McCarthy told the court he suffered from prostate problems.
He added: “I was caught short and I pulled them down and urinated, I did wrong.
"It is the first time I have been handcuffed in my life, I didn’t know there were little ones over the other side of the dock.
“I am sorry for what I did. I am normally discreet .”
Magistrates placed McCarthy on a six-month conditional discharge for the offence.
