GILLINGHAM discard Roland Edge could be reunited with former manager Tony Pulis at Stoke.

Pulis, who gave 24-year-old Edge his Gillingham league debut at Chesterfield in September, 1998, has expressed interest in taking his former protege to the Britannia Stadium.

“I’m certainly interested in Roland,” Pulis confirmed. “He’s a good lad and to be honest I’m surprised Gillingham have released him because his best years are ahead of him.

“At the moment I have two left-backs at the club in Marcus Hall and Clive Clarke who are out of contract and have been offered new terms. If they turn them down then Roland will become an option. But there is no way I can afford three left-backs.”

Division 3 promotion favourites Hull, managed by Peter Taylor - another former Gills boss - also expressed an interest in Edge whom he has long admired. But prior to Gillingham’s decision to release the player, Taylor signed Scunthorpe left-back Andy Dawson on a three-year contract.
