Dancing queens and kings strutted their stuff on the dance floor non-stop for eight hours, to raise money for a good cause.
The fund-raising dance marathon was organised by a Medway mum who wants raise cash for the Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Unit.
Joanne Green has previously raised thousands of pounds for the cause when last year she organised a 24-hour sponsored bowlathon in Lordswood.
The event which was a great success, raised more than £6,000.
Joanne raises cash for the unit, based at Medway Maritime Hospital, as a thank you for the care given to her son Jack who was born 12 weeks prematurely.
He had to remain on the unit for seven weeks and Joanne and her husband Phil were hugely impressed at the standard of care given to Jack who is now a lively, happy toddler.
On Sunday, Joanne and her friends danced the day away at the Anchorians Sports Club, in Darland Avenue Gillingham, to raise some more money for the unit’s Giraffe Appeal.
The group started dancing at 10am and didn’t finish until 8pm.
The appeal was launched to buy life-saving equipment for the neo-natal unit.
Joanne said: “The music covered the 1960s, 70s and 80s and the atmosphere was great we had a lot of support to keep us going.
“Jack took part in the danceathon, he had his own sponsorship form, although he only danced for a couple of hours as he his too small to dance for the whole 10 hours.”
“We all dressed up in fancy dress and raised £2,100 but there is still money coming in.
“I need a new pair of legs, I ache so much.
“We raised £2,100 after yesterday but the money is still coming in.
“I must say congratulations and a big thank you to everyone who took part.
“One woman who helped out was 20 weeks pregnant, but she really wanted to help raise the money for the charity.”
