Conservative election candidate Gloria Thienel suspended by party

A Tory candidate in Thursday's election has been suspended by her party.

Gloria Thienel was hoping to win in Peninsula ward in the Medway Council elections.

However, she has now been suspended from the Conservative Party. It is understood it involves allegations concerning offensive posts on social media about Muslims.

Her Twitter feed is protected, meaning only people she allows access to it can view the content.

Cllr Gary Etheridge, head of Rochester and Strood Conservative Association, said he was unable to comment due to GDPR rules.

The KM Group has tried to contact Ms Thienel for comment.
