Emergency crews have been searching the River Medway after reports a body had been spotted in the water.
But the response has now been stood down, after the sighting at Medway Valley Park in Strood was deemed to be a false alarm.
Police were called to the scene shortly after 3pm.
They were joined by fire crews and Kent Coastguard, and embarked upon a full search of the area, as eyewitnesses reported seeing two boats scouring the water.
However, police have confirmed no body has been located.
A spokesman for Sheerness RNLI, which was requested to launch in response to the incident, said: "It transpired to be a false alarm with good intent following a lot of debris in the river from recent high tides."
The searched ended just after 5pm, and emergency services have now left the area.
