Motorists are being advised to avoid Strood town centre this afternoon after a crash on the A2.

It is not clear at this stage how many vehicles were involved in the collision, but police officers were diverting motorists away from the road near the Crispin and Crispianus pub close to the railway bridge.

Ambulance crews were also on the scene at about 5.10pm, but it is not known how many people are injured.

Officers were stopping vehicles from going any further along the road from the junction with Gun Lane and Cuxton Road.
