THE KM Big Quiz taking place in Medway this Friday is a record breaker.

More than 66 teams entered this year’s quiz, making it the biggest ever quiz held in Medway and nearly equalling the record for the biggest quiz ever held in Kent.

The demand was so great that extra tables and food had to be drafted in to accommodate keen quiz-goers eager to help raise money for some worthy causes.

Proceeds are set to go to Macmillan Cancer Support, the Medway branch of Leukaemia Research, the Mayor of Medway’s Charity Appeal and road safety charity the Kent and Medway Walking Bus Group.

Thanks must go to the main sponsors of the quiz whose donations made the night possible.

Medway Ports, Furley Page Solicitors, and P&O Ferries all helped to finance the evening with ASDA and Shepherd Neame brewery supplying booze for the evening.

Thanks must also go to the local businesses who supplied raffle prizes.

The list includes a satellite navigation kit donated by Halfords, a guitar donated by Sharon Music, a digital camera pack from Kwik Film, Chatham, and Bed and Breakfast for two at the Rochester Holiday Inn.

One lucky winner will also be pampering themselves with a selection of goodies supplies by Boots, Chatham.

A stack of toys from the Early Learning Centre will also be on its way to a raffle winner.

The comments given by Manager Keeley Parish could be attributed to any one of the kind people who agreed to help out.

She said: “We were more than happy to be involved with a community event which will help so many worthy local causes.”

All that remains now is for the teams to lock horns and do battle.

Last year The Hastings Gibbons won with a remarkable score of 71 points from a possible 80. They scooped first place after defeating also-rans the Weakenders in a tense tie break round.

Will your team be able to reach their lofty heights or will you be more like Jean’s Rabble and Soliloquy for the Pedantic who battled it out at the bottom of the points tally to take home the wooden spoon.
