People had to flee their home after a fire this morning.

Residents reported that the lower part of Carnation Road, Strood, was taped off while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Two engines arrived in the road at 7.15am.

They donned breathing apparatus and used a hose reel to put out the flames.

The occupants were outside on arrival and there were no reported injuries.

The cause is unknown.
