A family had to flee their home after a fire broke out in their kitchen in Halling late last night.
Firefighters from Strood were called out to Scholey Close, at about 10.20pm after a chip pan left on a stove caught the kitchen alight.
The crew used breathing apparatus to enter the home and put out the flames and said the property was totally smoke-logged when they arrived.
They used their positive pressure ventilation fan to disperse the smoke and had put out the fire in a matter of minutes.
As spokesman said: “The property suffered a bit of fire damage to the kitchen, but the home had a working smoke alarm and the occupants were able to get out of the property when they heard it.”
A woman in her 50s was taken to hospital to be checked over after suffering from smoke inhalation.
This morning firefighters were called to Lordswood, to reports of a car fire.
A crew was called at 7.24am to Revenge Road and spent 20 minutes on the scene.
Police were also called to control traffic. No one was hurt in the incident.
