FOOTBALL supporter Colin Nash has recorded a soccer anthem which he hopes will get an airing at the World Cup. Unemployed engineer Colin, 42, is a keen Gillingham FC fan and says his new song has already been sung by the Priestfield faithful.

He wrote the song, called Red, White and Blue, at his home in Parkwood, Rainham, last month and heard the finished version two months ago. He already has a song, Home of the Shouting Men, played at Gills' home games but decided to write another for the World Cup which takes place in Japan and South Korea this summer.

Colin said: "A friend of mine was going to put the song together but needed some notes about the Gills. I got writing and ended up finishing the song which we recorded straight away. It's got a lot of shouting in it - a real football song.

Colin, who has no musical background was helped by the producer behind Charlton Athletic's official song, Martin Major, at his studio in Woolwich and sound engineer Mike Westerguard, who helped produce the first song. Colin spent £1,500 on producing and pressing 1,000 CDs of his first song and plans to sell his new one to fans at the ground.

Colin now hopes to get enough publicity for the song to enter it into the arena for this year' World Cup anthem. He added: "It would be a dream come true if it got anywhere. After all, I'm not a professional songwriter, just a fan having a go."
