Almost a quarter of the tickets to see one of Britain’s biggest boy bands, The Wanted, perform in Rochester were sold on the first day.
Tickets to the summer Castle Concerts show went on sale Monday morning, with a dozen dedicated fans queuing up in Chatham before tickets were available.
First in the queue was Victoria Whale, 32, from Gillingham.
She said: “My little girl wanted to see The Wanted because they’re her favourite boy band along with One Direction.
“When she found out they were coming she was just like ‘Oh my god I want to go’. It’s great the council got such a big band who are hitting the big time.”
Made up of Max, Nathan, Tom, Jay and Siva, The Wanted have become one of Britain’s biggest pop bands since they last performed in Medway alongside The Saturdays in 2010.
Shortly after they played their debut single All Time Low on the Castle Concerts stage, it went straight to number one. The will be headlining their own show on Thursday, July 18.
Samantha Boniface, 42, from Rochester, and 11-year-old daughter, Isabelle, saw them perform in 2010.
Ms Boniface said: “Isabelle was just so excited when she found out they will be coming to Rochester again. We saw them before they were famous when they supported The Saturdays at the Castle Concerts and Isabelle has loved them ever since.
“I’m really excited too. I can’t wait to see Max.”
A spokesman for the council said: “Tickets for The Wanted and 80s Night have only been on sale since 10am yesterday, and already nearly a quarter of the tickets for both shows have already been sold. So we would urge anyone wanting to book not to leave it too late”.
