Police investigate claims that two children were approached by a couple in a car in Weedswood, Chatham

Police are investigating claims that two children were approached by a couple in a car in Weedswood, Chatham, yesterday afternoon.

A woman posted on Facebook that her niece had been one of those approached by a car with a poppy on it, and spoke of her fears that the people in the car were trying to take the children.

A police spokeswoman said: “Officers are carrying out inquiries after receiving a report that a man and a woman, who were in a car, spoke to two children before driving off.

"The incident was reported to have happened in Gentian Close, Chatham, just before 4pm on Sunday July 12.”
