The parish clerk of a quiet village has recommended parents check on their children after discarded clothes and empty bottles of alcohol were found strewn across a field.
Villagers in Bredhurst discovered what looked like the aftermath of a party yesterday morning in a recreation area near the historic church.
Items of clothing including a girl's dressing gown, a hoodie and denim jacket were found alongside a whisky bottle, cans of lager and laughing gas canisters.
Parish council chairman Vanessa Jones says the items of clothing suggest they belong to children aged between 12 and 13.
She also added there was evidence of "adult activity" in the public open space in Hurstwood Road next to St Peter's.
She said: "The field was in a disgusting state but the rubbish has now been cleared by parish councillors and Charlie from Kemsley Street and his cousin – two young people who are shining examples to us all.
"Several items of clothing were recovered belonging to young people of possibly 12/13 years old along with empty bottles of whiskey, schnapps, cans of beer and nitrous oxide canisters.
"Most disturbingly, there appeared to be evidence of other adult activities.
"If your child is missing a white Tommy Hilfiger hoodie or a Dorothy Perkins' dressing gown, you may wish to question where they were last night."
Mrs Jones added the incident had been reported to the village PCSO.
Other items retrieved were a New Look denim jacket.
