The Fenn Bell zoo has now welcomed a new and beautiful addition to its site.
A flamboyance of pink flamingos has been introduced to the conservation project and guests can now go and visit them in Hoo.
KMTV were there for the flamingos' debut at the zoo
The flamingos certainly ruffled some feathers and put on quite a display when the public were allowed in to see them for the first time last week.
One visitor said: "We have been coming quite a long time because our daughter is two, it is relatively local to us and it is not too big of a zoo so the children are entertained the whole time. For the money they charge and the experience you get is amazing."
The owners took over the Fenn Bell pub and gardens in 2014 and has since introduced meerkats, toucans and monkeys amongst other species to the area as they aim to create an educational conservation space.
Andrew Cowell, the conservation project manager said: "It started way back before the pandemic with the idea that we would work with the guys at Slimbridge Wetlands Trust people to bring some flamingos here and obviously with the pandemic it really put the mockers on everything and shut us down really.
"So now we are back open and fully running we have finally been able to complete a project that has been two years in the making."
A modern enclosure including a water fountain and exotic trees has helped the flamingos settle into their new home.
Andrew added: "We've been working on the enclosures for about seven months now. Hopefully they'll be really happy here and other zoos will look at what we've done and maybe look to also do something a bit more modern."
The first licensed zoo in Medway can be found in Allhallows and is open to the public all year round.
