People waking up tomorrow expecting something in the mail may be disappointed as an unknown amount has been destroyed in a post box fire.
Strood firefighters were called out to Commissioners Road, Strood, at 6.54pm last night.
Using a powder extinguisher they quashed the fire.
One of the crew at the incident said: "We did not open then post box, just put the powder extinguisher inside, so we don't know how much damage there was.
"But any mail not damaged by the fire will be covered in powder now, rather than soaking wet and ruined.
"We have no way of knowing how the fire started or if the incident was deliberate."
