Firefighters were called to a garage alight after flames spread to nearby homes.
Crews were called at 3.44am this morning to the blaze in Broadview Avenue, Rainham.
At the height of the fire, seven fire engines and a height vehicle were there.
Crews, wearing breathing apparatus, put out the flames, before dampening down any remaining hot spots and carrying out salvage work.
KFRS' Volunteer Response Team also attended to offer support to affected residents.
It's believed the fire started in a garage and spread to the roof and first floor of a nearby house, as well as the roof space of a second house.
No casualties have been reported and the cause is not yet known.
