Firefighters rescue woman from car after three-vehicle crash in Cliffe Woods near Rochester

Firefighters removed a car door to free a woman following a three-vehicle crash.

The accident happened shortly after 4.30pm yesterday in Town Road, Cliffe Woods, near Rochester, with the woman being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital on Windmill Road, Gillingham.

Two fire engines were sent and crews were there for just over 30 minutes.

The road had to be closed due to being obstructed and there was also an oil spill.

A fire service spokesman said: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a crash involving three vehicles on Town Road in Cliffe Woods, near Rochester.

"Two fire engines were in attendance, and crews used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove one of the car doors and free a woman from the vehicle."

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 4.33pm on Monday to a report of a three-vehicle collision on the B2000 in Cliffe Woods, Rochester.

"Officers attended alongside the South East Coast Ambulance Service, with one person taken to a local hospital for treatment.

"Kent Fire and Rescue Service also attended and provided assistance in removing one person from a vehicle."

South East Coast Ambulance spokesman Richard Airey said: "I can confirm ambulance crews attended the scene and that a female patient was assessed and treated before being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital."

Police say they left the scene at around 8.30pm.
