Firefighters had to break into a burning flat to rescue a man.
A crew from Medway fire station along with police officers forced their way into the flat in Trafalgar Street, Gillingham, on Sunday night.
They climbed through a third-floor window to rescue the man, who had set fire to his living room at about 6.45pm.
A firefighter at Medway station said: "Because we couldn't get in the front door we had to smash the window on the third floor and our lads had to go in through the window.
"The fire was contained and once crews had extinguished it the ambulance service was able to treat the man."
The man was treated at the scene for minor injuries and crews left the scene at about 9pm.
Initial reports suggested armed police were called to the scene, but police have since confirmed this was not the case.
A 35-year-old man arrested over the incident has been released on police bail until December 22.
