Firefighters have tackled a fire in a bedroom of a family home this morning.
The blaze was on the first floor at the rear of a terraced house in King Street, Gillingham.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service say the fire is believed to have started accidentally after an electric heater fell over in a bedroom, and radiated heat set fire to bedding.
Crews took on the flames wearing breathing apparatus and using high-pressure hose reel jets.
They also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called out at 6.07am today.
Two fire engines were sent and crews finished the task at 7.04am.
A KFRS spokesman said: "There are no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is not yet established."
The home was left with one window open to continue to clear the smoke.
Ashen debris from the fire remained in the front drive.
Neighbour Jade Edwards said: "I wasn't even aware of the fire until the fire crews knocked on my door, I think most people slept right through it.
"I couldn't smell smoke or anything.
"Then between six and half six this morning the fire crews knocked on my door to check if I was okay.
"I was a little worried the smoke had spread to my house but the crews checked and it was all fine.
"I think the neighbours are all okay, they are quite new to the road, but I think they're a family of four."
The news of the fire seemed to have spread, as one man drove to Kings Street to check on his friend's dog.
Luckily his home was not affected by the flames.
