Firefighters have extinguished a blaze in a burning basement at a home in Chatham this morning after an electric heater caught fire.
Two fire engines attended an address in Luton Road at 10.06am and crews, who were wearing breathing apparatus, entered the house.
They tackled the blaze for two hours using a hose reel before clearing smoke from the property with a high powered fan.
Engineers from UK Power Networks were called to help make the basement safe and fit smoke alarms on each floor of the house.
Firefighters said the cause of the fire was believed to have been an electric heater. They left the scene just after midday.
