A popular barber is set to go out with a bang - at a fireworks display using some of her ashes.
Beverly Rose died after a short battle with cancer at the home she shared with partner Tori Rose on St Mary’s Island, Chatham.
Now Tori is determined that her fun-loving partner should go out in style... at a big fireworks display.
One of the rockets will contain Beverly's ashes - ensuring she will light up the sky as she lit up others' lives.
Meanwhile, many of Beverly’s customers at the A2 Barbers in Canterbury Street will join family and friends at her funeral today.
Mourners have been asked to wear bright colours to the ceremony at the Garden of England Crematorium.
Tori, 47, a nurse who took time off to care for Beverly since she was diagnosed in February, said: “She lived life to the full, was very sociable and had lots of friends. I think there will be a lot of people wearing Hawaiian shirts at the funeral and there will also be a bagpipe player.”
Beverly and Tori met 10 years ago and they sealed their relationship with a ceremony at the George Vaults pub in Rochester High Street in September 2010.
Tori has many fond memories, including holidays to Spain and Italy and Beverly’s love of good wine and fine dining.
She said: “She was at her happiest in the hot tub with a glass of champagne.”
Bubbly will flow at her wake at Gillingham Conservative Club in Canterbury Street and there will be a steel band.
Tori said Beverly loved fireworks and had indicated that she would like a display to celebrate her life.
She said: “I am planning about 1,000 fireworks on January 2, which would have been her 53rd birthday.”
Beverly also leaves mum Pamela, sister Jacqueline, brothers John and William and niece Pamela
The funeral will be at 3pm at the Bobbing crematorium. Donations to Macmillan Cancer Support, via John Weir funeral directors, 130-132 High Street, Rainham ME8 8AR, call 01634 373111.
