There was a large police presence at a street in Strood this morning following reports of a disturbance.

One witness said around 20 officers swooped on Darnley Road at around 11.10am.

A force spokesman said that, following enquiries at the scene, a 58-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assault.

Three men, aged 21, 22 and 44 were also arrested on suspicion of affray.

No serious injuries have been reported and they all remain in custody as enquiries continue.
