Firefighters attend bedroom blaze in Kenyon Walk, Gillingham

Flaming curtains set light to a bedroom.

Two fire engines were sent to a house in Kenyon Walk, Gillingham where they discovered the first-floor bedroom ablaze.

Crews attended the property at 5.25pm wearing breathing apparatus and used a high-pressure hose reel jet to extinguish the flames. They also used a positive pressure ventilation fan in their rescue.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but it is believed to have started after the room's curtains caught alight.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said there was no reported injuries and everyone was accounted for.

Firefighters were able to deal with the incident in around an hour finishing their work at 6.26pm.
