A fly-tipper has been ordered to pay more than £1,300 in compensation and costs after dumping rubbish.
Zenon Krzysztof Makowski, of Marlborough Road, Gillingham, pleaded guilty to fly-tipping at Medway Magistrates’ Court.
The waste was dumped in Corporation Street, Rochester, in July 2016.
The court heard Makowski drove a van into a car wash and unloaded the waste before driving off.
He was arrested on suspicion of fly-tipping later that month. Police also seized his van.
At a hearing, magistrates ordered Makowski to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and to pay £343.12 compensation to pay for clearing the waste, and costs of £1,093.12.
Cllr Jane Chitty (Con), Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder covering Enforcement, said: “Fly-tipping is completely unacceptable and is a blight on local neighbourhoods and communities.
"We will continue to investigate fly-tipping thoroughly and prosecute offenders where possible.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank residents for continuing to report fly-tipping to us and I would like to encourage them to continue to do so.”
