Football legend Ian Wright was spotted in Kent yesterday, filming a commercial for M&S.
The 60-year-old former Arsenal and England player was seen at Hempstead Valley in Gillingham.
Mr Wright, who is now a frequent football commentator on TV’s Match of the Day, took shoppers by surprise.
Grace Lowdell said: “My family wouldn’t believe me when I told them.”
Some braver fans persuaded Mr Wright to do a selfie with them.
He was at the shopping centre at around 1pm, according to commenters, with others expressing their disappointment at missing the appearance.
Mr Wright has for the past two years featured in the M&S campaign Eat Well, Play Well, to encourage a healthy diet.
A spokesman for M&S said: “Ian Wright is M&S Food’s Eat Well ambassador so he was there filming content as part of his Eat Well campaign work with M&S Food. The content will go out in the next few months most likely.”
Just last month, Mr Wright was discovered eating a full English breakfast at Juliet’s Farm Shop and Cafe in Ash, near Sandwich.
He later shared a video of his visit on TikTok.
Last November he was invited to Buckingham Palace to be made an OBE for his services to football and charity.
