THERE are just a few days left until the Medway Messenger’s Curry Night in aid of the Friends of the Wisdom Hospice.
Spice Fusion in Deanwood Drive, Rainham, will be hosting the dinner on Tuesday, with money raised going to the Friends, this newspaper’s Charity of the Year for 2010.
Guests will also get the chance to win a host of prizes in a raffle, from a hamper full of goodies, shown here by kmfm breakfast presenter Andy Walker, to family passes to the Historic Dockyard.
Restaurant owner Kiron Haque has planned a delicious menu with dishes to suit all taste buds. All sorts of dishes will be served up, from hot and spicy south Indian garlic chilli chicken to the milder lamb piaza, which is cooked with sliced onions and the restaurant’s special blend of spices.
There will be plenty of choice for vegetarians, including starters like aloo tikki – dumplings of spicy mashed potatoes – and dishes like subzee miloni – mixed vegetables cooked in a tomato sauce with cream.
Hospice fundraiser Caroline Ford said: "This is a night not to be missed. The meal is sure to be excellent and Spice Fusion’s reputation for good food is well deserved.
"Why not make up a party with some of your friends and have a fun night supporting the Friends of the Wisdom Hospice?"
Each year the Friends group gives a grant of £578,000 to help with the running of the Wisdom Hospice in High Bank, Rochester.
The money, much of which comes from donations and fundraising, is also used to buy equipment which is not covered by the NHS.
The Wisdom Hospice, which is run by Medway Community Healthcare, is the only adult hospice serving the Medway and Swale area.
In addition to the residential part of the hospice, there is also a day centre where visitors can relax, get a haircut and take part in activities, including art sessions. The hospice also runs a bereavement service and its nurses visit patients who prefer to be treated in their own homes.
Tickets for the curry night cost £25, with £20 going to The Friends of the Wisdom Hospice. To book, call 01634 227880 or email sshaffi@thekmgroup.co.uk
