The family of a teenager killed when his bike collided with a lorry on Medway City Estate have paid tribute to him.
Jack Mander's friends also staged a candle lit vigil on the estate this evening when they laid flowers and lit candles close to where he died.
Jack 17, who was from Strood, died at the scene of the crash on Anthony’s Way, Strood, shortly after 9pm yesterday.
He was riding his Yamaha 125 motorcycle when he was involved in a collision with a Volvo heavy goods vehicle.
The driver of the HGV, a 44-year-old man from Wiltshire, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and later released on bail pending further inquiries until February.
A statement released by Jack’s family said: "Jack was always a very careful rider who knew the roads well, and we are struggling to come to terms with what has happened.
"He worked on the Medway City Estate as an apprentice fabricator, and was on his way home to watch his favourite television programme Hunted when the collision happened.
"It was the only show we would all gather around the television to watch together.
"Jack also studied at MidKent College and was well-liked by his friends and workmates, and enjoyed exchanging banter with them all. We shall miss him immensely.
"We are aware an arrest has been made and would strongly encourage anyone who saw what happened to contact the police.
"We would also now ask that our privacy be respected at this difficult time."
The road was closed for a number of hours while police carried out investigations.
This evening, police had coned-off a section of the road so his friends could lay flowers and light candles at the scene.
About 20 young people could be seen at the site with more turning up in their cars during the evening.
