Tanker suffers fuel spill at Four Elms Hill in Chattenden, motorists urged to avoid the area

Motorists are being urged to avoid Wainscott near Four Elms Hill roundabout after a tanker suffered a fuel spill which closed the road.

The emergency services, including police and fire crews were called to help clear up the spillage out shortly after 1.30pm after the fuel spillage at the roundabout near Chattenden.

The road is currently closed in both directions between the Wainscot Bypass and Dux Court Road.

A spokesman for police said: “Kent Police was called at 1.32pm on Monday, October 26, to a report of a fuel spillage on Four Elms Hill, Chattenden.

“The road is currently closed in both directions.”

There were no reports of any crashes and no one was injured during the incident.

Highways England said four Elms Hill at the A228 was closed in both directions with queueing traffic in due to the spillage between A289 and the B2108 Hoo Road and Main Road.

The incident is also causing traffic delays on the A289 Wainscott Bypass.
