THE funeral of former Gillingham FC chairman Charles Cox takes place on Thursday (July 3) at Woodlands Road Cemetery at Gillingham at 1pm.

Mr Cox died in hospital in Ashford last week following a short illness. He was 75.

Mr Cox was appointed Gillingham chairman in 1983 and resigned on June 30, 1986.

He was also well-known for his business interests across Kent, particularly in the Medway Towns.

In recent years he had lived in the village of Challock, near Canterbury.
