Voters have reacted with dismay to the revelation Rochester and Strood MP Mark Reckless got drunk and missed a crucial vote.
The Conservative MP has apologised for getting intoxicated at the House of Commons last Tuesday and missing a vote on the Finance Bill.
Although Mr Reckless apologised for his actions, the story has been covered all week by newspapers as far afield India.
And voters have been leaving comments on our story, saying they are shcoked at the behaviour of Mr Reckless.
Ian wrote: "If any other public servant had acted in this way, it would be a case for immediate dismissal.
"If he doesn't at least offer to stand down it will be a sign of his complete disregard for the people of Rochester and Strood."
The MP said to the Medway Messenger: "I am terribly embarrassed.
"I apologise unreservedly and I don't intend to drink again in Westminster."
As well as being an MP Mr Reckless is a member of the Kent Police Authority, the body which monitors the county's police force.
Ann Barnes, chairman of the authority, yesterday said: "I have seen the media coverage relating to Mark Reckless' behaviour in Parliament, and I have spoken to him personally this morning.
"I have noted the very public apologies that have been both published and broadcasted.
"The conduct of Kent Police Authority members is governed by a heavily regulated code and framework overseen by an independent Standards Committee.
"It does appear that in this instance, Mr Reckless' actions relates to his role as a Member of Parliament."
During a visit to his constituency earlier in the year, Mr Reckless tackled his party leader on the issues caused by heavy drinking, highlighting particular problems of rowdiness in Rochester High Street.
