Garage in Cuxton destroyed by fire caused by spark from welding equipment

A garage attached to a house in Cuxton was destroyed by fire this lunchtime.

Firefighters using breathing apparatus, tackled the blaze at Charles Drive after being alerted at about 1.30pm.

The contents, including a trailer, were damaged. Nobody was hurt.

It is thought it was caused by a spark from welding equipment being used in the garage.

Crews from Strood and Rochester spent two hours containing the fire and preventing it spreading from the rest of the property.
