Garage fire in Everest Drive, Hoo, believed to have been caused by faulty tumble dryer

A faulty tumble dryer has been found to be cause of a garage fire.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at around 1.46am with thrree engines sent to the house in Everest Drive, Hoo.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels jets, compressed air foam and high pressured fans to extinguish the fire and stop the flames from spreading.

They were at the property for about an hour calling an end to the incident at around 3am.

No injuried were reported and it believed the blaze was caused accidentally by a faulty tumble dryer.

Fire crews have issued a reminder to everyone to check their appliances are in good working order before use.

They say white goods such as tumble dryers, washing machines and dishwashers, are safer used when someone is home and awake, as you’re more likely to be alerted to a fire more quickly.
