A fire broke out at a house after flames from an adjoining garage spread.
Fire crews were called to Fountain Road, Strood shortly before 5.30pm yesterday.
The blaze started in a domestic garage but spread to the adjoining home.
A fire service spokesperson said: "When crews arrived they were faced with smoke issuing from the building.
"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to put out the fire."
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and there were no reported injuries.
Two fire engines were called to the scene and left shortly after 7pm - as well as the volunteer response team who offered support to those impacted by the blaze.
British Red Cross and the ambulance service also assisted.
