A GRANDFATHER who survived the odds has thanked the air ambulance crew who saved his life.
Tony Gutteridge, of Wigmore Road, Gillingham, is lucky to be alive after a motorbike crash in February.
The near fatal accident happened near Leeds Castle after keen motorcyclist Tony had been to visit a friend.
The 64-year-old said: “I remember everything right up until the collision – it all happened very quickly. I then woke up on the ground and my leg was in terrible agony and I can vaguely remember asking someone to relieve me of the pain, before I passed out. I woke up 10 days later at the Royal London Hospital.” Weeks later, Tony went along to the air ambulance HQ to hand over £1,000 as a gesture of thanks.
His wife Pauline said she will never forget the day of the accident.
She added: “There was a knock at the door and two police officers stood there – my heart sunk, it was such a horrendous feeling. They advised me and my three children to get to the hospital – fast.”
