Gillingham player faces assault charge

GILLINGHAM FC striker Marlon King has been charged with assaulting a police officer. The £3-million rated player will appear before Camberwell Green magistrates in London tomorrow.

Mr King faces charges of actual bodily harm, driving with excess alcohol, taking a vehicle without the owner's consent and driving without insurance. Police charged him on October 18 in relation to an incident in the early hours of Sunday, September 23 in Ardwell Road in the centre of Streatham.

Mr King, 21, lives in south east London
