The play-off places are within sight for Gillingham once more as they head to Port Vale tonight.
Victory at Vale Park could lift them up as much as four places in League 2 as they look to build on Saturday’s 1-0 win at Morecambe.
Gills boss Mark Stimson said: “That’s where we want to try and get into. We want to get into the play-off zone or not far off it by the end of this month.”
Vale drew at home to Shrewsbury on Saturday and tonight's game will be their third at home on the trot. They won 2-1 at home to Rochdale the previous weekend.
Despite their impressive recent form the Valiants have had a poor campaign so far and they sit 16th in the table.
“We’ll be going for three points and whether we get them or not we’ll see,” said Stimson.
“All we’ll say to the players is go out there and play with that passion and desire again to win and also that little bit of quality.”
Injury concerns hit Gillingham’s preparations for their trip with winger Dennis Oli (ankle) and striker Gary Mulligan (back) both failing to finish Saturday’s game at Morecambe.
Mulligan is likely to recover but Oli is doubtful.
The Gills are already without Garry Richards (suspended), Albert Jarrett (ankle) and Mark McCammon (hamstring).
Young striker Luis Cumbers has, however, made a quick recovery from a fractured fibula and managed a brief appearance on Saturday.
The Gills squad remained in the north after Saturday's trip to Morecambe and will make a short journey across to Staffordshire today.
