Gillingham may have failed to score on Saturday but Blues fan Lucy Dante got one in the back of the net.
The eight-year-old from Rainham was team mascot at the Gills away match at Yeovil. After leading the team out on to the pitch dressed in her replica kit, Lucy was given the chance to take a shot at goal - and scored.
The St Augustine’s School pupil is a regular in the stands at Priestfield but it was the first time she had been to watch an away game since Gills gained promotion at Wembley.
Dad Adrian, also an avid Gills fan, was hoping Lucy might bring Gills the luck they needed to bring Gills their first away win of the season, but the game ended 0-0.
He said: “We deserved to win, but a point was good enough because it got us out of the bottom four. Lucy got to meet all the players and Stimson was great. They really looked after her and she had a fantastic day.”
