A Gillingham footballer has paid tribute to his grandmother, The Only Way is Essex star Nanny Pat, after she passed away this morning.

Nanny Pat, real name Pat Brooker, died aged 80, following a short illness.

She was a much loved star in the show famed for her one-liners and cooking sausage plaits.

Her grandson Josh Wright, Gills midfielder, tweeted: “A truly inspirational wonderful kind hearted superwoman, a humongous loss to myself and family. You simply were the best nan, love you always and forever RIP Nanny.”
