Gills fans are eagerly looking forward to the club’s first trip to Premier League ground White Hart Lane.
Almost 3,000 fans will be cheering on the Gills as they take on Spurs tonight in the third round of the EFL Cup.
One dedicated fan is flying from Spain and back in 24 hours for the game. Tom Clee is jetting back from a family holiday to watch the match, and will be flying back to Malaga at 6am tomorrow.
The 26-year-old, who has been a fan since he was six, said: "I was in a pub when the draw was made and my phone was going mad so I knew it must have been a big side.
"When I saw it was Tottenham I was really excited, I live just around the corner from White Hart Lane.
"But then I saw the date and realised we were on holiday, and my heart sank."
But after making some winnings on a poker game, Tom decided to spend it on the air fare to get back to the UK for the game.
He flew from Malaga at 10.10am this morning and will land back in southern Spain tomorrow, less than 24 hours after he left, to enjoy the last two days of his holiday.
He added: "My mum was less than impressed when I said what I was doing, but it is her fault I'm a Gillingham fan. She is from Rainham originally but I've never actually lived in Kent so I caught the Gills bug from her."
Tom is friends with Martin Allen so will be watching the match in a box with the former Gills manager. He predicts Gills will win 2-1.
He said: "I think it will end 1-1 and we'll get a goal in extra time. Spurs had the Champions League last week and a few injuries so I think they'll have a weakened side."
The trip to Spurs will be a proud moment for Gills boss Justin Edinburgh, who played for the north London club for 10 years.
He said: "It will be a proud moment to lead Gillingham out against a team where I served for a long time.”
The Gills will be cheered on by almost 3,000 fans after the club’s allocation for the game sold out last week
Gillingham claimed their place in the third round after a win against another Premier League side, Watford.
It was only the sixth time in Gillingham’s history that they had beaten top-flight opposition.
