Gills tell Charlton to name their price

Gillingham are waiting for Charlton to name their price after indicating their interest in signing transfer listed striker Chris Dickson.

Mark Stimson, the Gills boss, knows finances could be the biggest hurdle to brining Dickson back to Priestfield and is waiting to hear if his target is within price range.

“The biggest thing is going to be the fee that Charlton want,” said Stimson.

“I made contact a couple of times with Phil Parkinson and asked about a loan but it’s always been no. Now it’s different because I’ve been led to believe Chris has put a transfer request in.

“We don’t know if that’s been accepted and if it has he’ll have a price and we’ll know one way or another if we can get into that race.

“If we can I would love to bring him back because, as goalscorers they sometimes don’t do a lot, but like Jackson proved on Saturday, with half a chance, bang it’s in.”

Dickson scored goals for Gills while on loan at Priestfield last season.
