A girl aged three had to undergo emergency surgery after falling over in a greenhouse.
The child, who has not been named, was in a critical condition after the accident at her home in Seymour Road, Rainham, just before 1pm on Monday .
Police, paramedics and the Kent Air Ambulance were called to the house and a spokesman for the air ambulance said land crews and the helicopter team had to resuscitate the child at the scene.
She was then airlifted to the Royal London Hospital’s specialist trauma unit and underwent emergency surgery.
A police spokesman described the incident as a “terrible accident”.
She added: “The child’s injuries were considered extremely serious at the time but her injuries are no longer life threatening.”
A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said officers were parked outside the family’s detached home for the rest of the day.
She added: “I saw the air ambulance and knew it must have been serious. It made me so worried. I just hope the little girl is okay.”
