A former police officer who originally investigated the murder of prostitute Glenda Potter is convinced her killer will be caught.
The body of mum-of-three Glenda was found in a Rochester churchyard 19 years ago this month.
The Medway Messenger revealed last week that police have been taking another look at the case in the wake of the Safe Exit scheme, which has seen prostitutes taken off the streets of Medway and given support.
Former area commander Ken Tappenden, who was brought in to review the case after eight weeks in 1991, said he was convinced Glenda did not die in the churchyard.
He had always felt her body had been taken there. He said: “I felt that the dockyard came into it because of some vehicle movements we knew about, and marks found on her body were probably caused by scrap metal.”
Mr Tappenden is confident the case will be solved. “I am absolutely convinced the cold case team, who are natural detectives, with the added advantage of technology and science, will crack this case,” he said.
