Medway's gold-medal winning hockey players led Team GB in singing the national anthem as the plane carrying the Olympic team touched down at Heathrow this morning.
Four members of Rochester’s Holcombe Hockey Club played a crucial role in winning what was arguably Team GB’s most dramatic gold medal of the Games.
Penalty heroics from keeper Maddie Hinch, a late equaliser from Nicola White and sterling work from Sam Quek and Shona McCallin all helped win a first Olympic hockey gold for Britain’s women.

Led by the hockey team, the athletes sang God Save The Queen and the moment was caught on camera by bronze medalist, Asha Philip.
Team GB made history when they won 67 medals at the Rio games, finishing second in the medals table.
A total of 320 athletes and support staff landed at Heathrow at 10am in a gold-nosed British Airways aircraft with “victoRIOus” emblazoned on the side.

Also on the plane, was Chatham trampolinist Kat Driscoll, who finished sixth in the final of the individual event.
The 30-year-old – who learned her trade at Lordswood Leisure Centre and Gillingham’s Jumpers Rebound Centre – joined compatriot Bryony Page in becoming the first British women to qualify for the trampolining final.
Around 50 people packed into Holcombe hockey club in Curtis Way to watch the match on Friday including co-chairman and director of hockey Jon Rye.
He said: “To have four girls involved in the Olympic final – whatever the result – is a phenomenal achievement for them.”
Chatham MP and sports minister Tracey Crouch cannot wait to welcome the hockey team. “I am sure Holcombe will put on something special for their returning players,” she said.
“I thought it was an absolutely brilliant performance from the girls – a truly historic gold, and helped by some of our local players.”
