A mother who found dog mess near her son’s grave and had a flower planter stolen on the anniversary of his death is heartbroken.
Sandra Denbow’s son Matthew was just 11 when he died after developing a brain tumour in 2001. The 42-year-old visits his grave at Chatham cemetery, in Maidstone Road, every day.
But Mrs Denbow, of Hillcrest Road, Chatham, was horrified to find dog faeces round Matthew’s grave twice in the week of the anniversary of his death.
A flower planter with a card for Matthew she left there was also taken.
She said: "To visit Matthew on the week of the anniversary and see dog poo around the grave was awful. It’s really upsetting – just heartbreaking.
Medway Council has confirmed it is looking to install more signs warning people not to bring in dogs, unless they are guide dogs.
