First there was Kirsten Joy, then Joseph Apostol and then Jamie Johnson – it seems a series of The Voice would not be complete without a Medway singer and this year is no exception.
Hannah Wildes, who comes from Walderslade, is the fourth contestant from the Towns in four years to appear on the BBC talent show.
Each year each contestant has made it one stage further with Jamie reaching the finals in 2014 – could 2015 be the year a Medway singer takes home the crown?
The 24-year-old is singing in the fifth round of blind auditions in tomorrow night’s show on BBC One, hoping that one of the four judges will turn the chair.
Joining established judges Will.I.Am, Sir Tom Jones and Kaiser Chiefs’ frontman Ricky Wilson is pop star Rita Ora.
Rita replaces Jamie’s mentor on last year’s show, Kylie Minogue.
Jamie, from Gillingham, was Team Kylie’s finalist but was the first voted out in the live final.
Joseph, also from Gillingham, made it to the final two of Team Tom and Kirsten Joy, who took part in the first series, was chosen for Jessie J’s team in the blind auditions but knocked out in the battle rounds.
Hannah has performed a solo show at The Hippodrome in London’s Leicester Square and she regularly gigs at The Bedford, Balham, where Paolo Nutini, James Morrison, Newton Faulkner, Amy Macdonald and Ed Sheeran also started out.
She has even performed her own song, I Walked All Night, live on BBC Radio London.
Hannah was signed to label Famestage in November 2013 and is busy writing songs in preparation for her EP launch this year. Her influences include David Bowie, Prince and Mariah Carey.
She is performing at the Pizza Express Music Lounge, Maidstone on February 26.
Hannah works as a receptionist in a dermatology unit to fund her music career.
See if the judges’ chairs spin for Hannah on The Voice tomorrow on BBC One at 7.15pm.
