A drug dealer arrested twice in three weeks for supplying drugs in the Towns has been locked up for three-and-a-half years.
Abiola Adenmosun, 27, was first stopped on in September last year when he was seen acting suspiciously in a car in Chatham.
After appearing to try to evade a patrol the vehicle was then found by police in a car park off Medway Road.
A smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle led to it being searched for drugs and officers found five wraps were found in a foot-well as well as £675, which Adenmosun had in his pocket.
Also seized was a set of digital scales and mobile phones containing text messages related to drug deals.
In an investigation led by Kent Police’s Operation Jupiter team, Adenmosun was released on bail, while officers continued to gather evidence against him.
However, despite being on bail, Adenmosun continued to offend and was arrested again in October when he was stopped by officers in Saxton Street, Gillingham.
A mobile phone he had been carrying rang and was answered by an officer.
A man spoke asking for ’one dark’, a reference to a request for heroin.
Four wraps discarded nearby were found to contain crack cocaine and heroin.
The wraps had been twisted in brown paper, in exactly the same way as the drugs located during his first arrest.
Adenmosun, formerly of Tabard Street, Lambeth, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing heroin with intent to supply and a further charge of possessing cocaine with intent to supply.
He was jailed on Wednesday, June 21.
After sentencing, DC Iain Joyce, said: “We have been able to remove a drug dealer who has relentlessly targeted some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
“Adenmosun would almost certainly have carried on supplying drugs to anyone who wanted them and the streets of Medway are safer place now he is in prison.”
Operation Jupiter is part of police strategy designed to tackle emerging criminal gangs, whose members often travel into the county from other areas.
The strategy includes taking robust action to deter criminals in areas including Medway, Swale, Gravesham and Dartford, often in connection with the sale and distribution of drugs.
