Prince of Wales, Railway Street, Chatham, applied for planning for new beer garden

A historic pub in Chatham wants to turn an old store and beer cellar into a garden.

If plans are allowed The Prince of Wales will create a pergola, a wooden trellis supporting climbing plants, fixed seating areas and booths with their own individual TVs.

Plans for the pub, which opened in 1872, also include astroturf and enhanced lighting.

Members of the public can comment on the application online until Friday, September 2.
